VillageLIVE is an augmented reality app, built in collaboration with Anne Goodfriend and Shir David, with support from History, A+E Networks, NYC Media Lab, and Columbia and Stanford Universities.

VillageLIVE invites you to use your phone to peer into the past as you walk through the city. Using Nelson Sullivan’s video archive, past narratives come back to life in the streets where prominent figures of the city’s queer history once flourished. Nelson was a video artist who lived in Greenwich Village in the 1980s, recognized as the first vlogger. His documentation of the city’s downtown scene is an unparalleled archive of queer life. The app represents a rich opportunity for communal storytelling, journalism, education, and immersive experiential content.

My responsibilities for VillageLIVE included content auditing, narrative development, UX, UI, IxD, copywriting, grant writing, and outreach. The project received funding and recognition from A+E Networks' Digital Media Storytelling Fellowship as well as the Magic Grant from the Brown Institute for Media Innovation, and was a semifinalist in the W. R. Berkley Innovation Labs $300K Entrepreneurs Challenge
